Position Summary

The Warehouse & Plant Worker performs a wide range of hands-on tasks that keep our seed production and shipping operations running smoothly. This role involves operating a forklift, loading and unloading trucks, conditioning and handling seed, organizing and staging warehouse loads, and supporting general plant duties. It is an excellent fit for a dependable, safety-minded team player who enjoys physical work and takes pride in a job done right.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a forklift to move, stack, and stage seed bags, totes, and pallets throughout the warehouse and yard.
  • Load and unload trucks of soybeans, corn, and other seed products by hand and with equipment.
  • Sort, organize, stage, and set up customer and dealer loads for shipment from the warehouse.
  • Assist with seed conditioning, treating, bagging, tagging, and palletizing as needed.
  • Drive a tractor and operate other plant and yard equipment on an occasional, as-needed basis.
  • Verify product counts, lot numbers, and order accuracy; help maintain accurate inventory records (including in Seedware).
  • Keep the warehouse, plant, and equipment clean, organized, and in good working order, including routine sanitation and minor maintenance.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Work cooperatively with team members and communicate clearly to keep operations on schedule.
  • Perform other warehouse, plant, and general labor duties as assigned, especially during peak planting and harvest seasons.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Equipment: Forklift experience preferred; certification provided or required upon hire.
  • License: Valid driver’s license; ability to drive a tractor (training provided).
  • Work style: Reliable, punctual, safety-conscious, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Accuracy: Attention to detail with counts, labeling, and order accuracy.
  • Experience: Prior warehouse, agricultural, manufacturing, or plant experience is a plus.
  • Bonus: Mechanical aptitude and basic equipment maintenance skills are a plus.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Ability to lift and carry at least 60 lbs periodically throughout the shift.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, climbing, and reaching.
  • Work is performed in a warehouse and plant setting with exposure to seed dust, noise, and seasonal temperature changes.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and overtime during busy planting and harvest seasons.
  • Use of required PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and a dust mask/respirator where applicable.

Latham offers a competitive hourly wage based on experience, with overtime opportunities during peak season, plus a comprehensive, family-oriented benefits package for full-time employees:
